Much of our underdevelopment has to do with the mentality of our politicians. It is extremely important that the people who lead us are highly aware individuals that are worth something on their own, not because they are part of the ruling party. For over 30 years we have been lead by politicians that still think in the sixties-to-eighties. They still exercise the same political mindset that once worked, but does not anymore. We have seen this with the Houthis. For us to begin our move towards becoming an industrialized country means that the people with the most knowledge and skill take charge, not those with the most loyalty. This is our problem. The president continues to appoint loyal officials; he continues to run this country on fear, not on vision. I truly believe that there are many capable and skillful Yemenis that should have taken charge of our institution. Had that happened we would have surpassed many difficulties facing us today, such as population growth, an issue that does not even exist to our current regime. We the youth of this country need to start leading ourselves, for we are the leaders of tomorrow. We have for a long time delegated responsibility, but now it is time to start taking matters into our own hands. We need to educate ourselves, not for us, but for our country. We need to ignite change, not wait for it to fall out of the skies. We need to become leaders, not followers that just go with the flow. We have no one to look up to, no one to guide us, thus we seek guidance from Allah, and Allah alone. “Be the change you want to see”- Gandhi Views: 13389
