Former British intelligence agent, Alastair Crooke, holding Freedom Sun Orchestra (أوركسترا شمس الحرية) DVD which showcases Hezbollah's orchestra playing European symphonies. He played the DVD at the beginning of his talk entitled "Recognizing Resistance" in which he argued for the need for the west to recognize legitimate and grassroot-supported Islamic resistance movements (such as Hamas and Hezbollah) and the general Islamic awakening at large at a deeper intellectual level in order for the west to move forward.

Unfortunately, I was not allowed to record the talk, but the interview below will give you a good feel for the man's views.

Do you agree with his views? If yes, do you feel more comfortable expressing these views that a white Western man had expressed them before you?

Why?

Popular support does not grant legitimacy. Think of Hitler.

Are you afraid of talking about such issues? Which box would you check for the second last bullet in page 4 of http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/permit.asp ?

6 Quite the cynic, aren't ya!

I especially like the part where you said, “more comfy now that a white man said it…”, but dude, this is not the Mississippi – we don’t really care nor give credence to whatever approval we can presumably get from a white man or Godzilla for that matter. Arabs talk for the sake of talking, we are argue for the sake of arguing, and we are quite frankly very outspoken if you ask me – the problem is, nobody listens, and therein lies the dilemma of such a debacle where we fall back and become yet again, the worse of cynics. Now if you will excuse me, I have a qat chew to catch where I will bitch about the current state of affairs for the rest of the day, like every other day.
